The dramatic South West coastal path on North Devon's coastline gives panoramic views of the best unspoilt sandy beaches in the country. Amongst them are Saunton, Croyde, Westward Ho, Woolacombe, Putsborough, Widmouth, the National Trust Sandymouth and other beaches of Bude. They contrast with the rugged cliffs and crystal blue seas where you can surf, swim, or just chill out in a deck chair. Braunton Burrows is a world-class environment deemed a biosphere by UNESCO. This is an internationally protected area of outstanding natural beauty rich in wildflowers and birdlife. There are a network of inland paths, such as The Tarka Trail and the Ruby Way ideal for cycle or walking holidays. They wind through the brightly coloured patchwork of fields bounded by hedgerows, woodlands and streams.

North Devon countryside is ideal for bird and wildlife watching. The open expanses of Exmoor offer opportunities to see Red Deer, Buzzards, Ravens and a wealth of Snowdrops, Primroses and Foxgloves. Farmland stretches for miles, winding roads and high distinctive Devon banks, maintained by the farmers, are a haven for wildlife.
Exmoor now has the International status of ‘Dark Sky' making it an ideal location for star gazers. At the end of the day the star-studded night skies will delight and dazzle. |
