Bed and Breakfast at Widmouth Farm is a little different ~ instead of a room in the farmhouse you will have your own cottage, with private sitting room, TV/video (‘Freeview' provides radio too) and shower room. You are able to relax in privacy and help yourselves to hot drinks at any time, in addition to the welcome tray provided on arrival. |
This is a working sheep farm and the owners, Elizabeth and Jeremy Sansom also indulge their hobby of keeping a wide variety of animals. So they invite all like-minded visitors to join them when they feed and handle the animals. This includes the Alpacas, goats, pigs, tame sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs and an array of poultry including free-range turkeys.

Elizabeth invites you to breakfast ‘par excellence' in her stunning farmhouse kitchen, where you can enjoy the views across the fields to the sea, about 500 metres away. At high tide you can watch boats going in and out of Watermouth Harbour . You can also see the sheep ambling by just outside the window. A real ‘country experience'! Elizabeth likes to agree your breakfast with you the evening before and offers a range of dishes prepared using home grown and local produce wherever possible. Special diets can be catered for with advance notice.

The magnificent scenery and abundance of natural wildlife makes this an ideal location for walking (the SW coastal footpath borders the farm) bird watching, painting and sea fishing, from various points around our headland. The fabulous golf courses of the region include Royal North Devon (the oldest links course in England ) and our own Ilfracombe Golf Course just ¼ mile up the road, with wonderful views over the Bristol Channel . It is only 5 minutes drive on to Exmoor with its pretty hidden villages and wonderful wildlife and walks. Alternatively 15 minutes in the other direction takes you to the glorious 2 mile beach at Woolacombe, 6 mile beach at Saunton Sands or 1 mile at Croyde.

There are two pubs within 30 minutes walk along the coastal footpath in daylight, and many more good hostelries and restaurants in Berrynarbor (approx 1.5 miles) and Ilfracombe (approx 2 miles) and the surrounding area. Jeremy and Elizabeth are always pleased to discuss this with you.
Children of all ages are welcome and cots, highchairs and stairgates are available. Dogs are welcome, for a small charge, and there is a dog exercise field, which is fully fenced, gated and sheep free. Dogs are also allowed off lead on the private beach and on the coastal footpath. |
You are assured a really warm welcome at Widmouth Farm Cottages!
